The 'psychedelic designs' became popular in the 1960s. These particular designs included psychedelic patterns with acid based colors. This type of design intensified with the hippie movement and their 'flower power' that occurred during this decade.
Retro modern furniture is a term used to describe the style of the 1950s and 1960s. This style of furniture included materials such as polypropylene and foam molding. The polypropylene material became popular because it could be matched to almost any paint color picked out by the consumer. The foam molding was used in upholstery cushions.
